Hi I’m from Welbourne Primary and Haringey are thinking about expanding our school. It is both an exciting and scary porspect. Where is everyone going to fit? Will it mean better resources for the school?
Hmmm…. I think it’s not a good idea because there will be a lot of noise, we’ll have a smaller playground and more children so it will be busy with the ICT, library, P.E. … Well, but the two good reasons for the school to be expanded are: more children and more teachers could come to our lovely school.
Hello Milan, your old teacher here! I really enjoyed reading your post. I agree with all of your ideas and think it would be very noisy, the playground would feel smaller and there would be less time for ICT, PE and the library. Where do you think the extra classrooms could go?

Hi I am Aya and this is my opinion about school expansion: I don’t think it is a good idea for school expansion because there will not be any room in the play ground. On the other side I think that school expansion might be good because more people will learn.
I totaly agree with you Aya because there will not be any space in the playground and you never know children might bump in to each other so thats why i agree with you.
I think that it will not be a great idea for our school Lancasterian Primary School to be expanded because in the dinner hall it is filled up already and imagine if we had more children it would be packed and there would be no space for the students to eat or stand to get their food.
In the playground there will be no space to play in the playground because there will be building works due to the new classes and after the classes are built it will be too packed for us. Also our vegetable patch will be gone because the new classes will need to be built; I really enjoy the vegetable patch because it teaches me how the environment and growing vegetables can be fun and healthy.
Also there will be more injuries in the playground because the children may bump into each other to go somewhere or get something. If our school doesn’t get expanded it will be better because there will be nothing to worry about.
Hi I’m Isobel and I think that the school expansion is a bad idea because it will mean that our school will have to change our timetable for P.E time,I.C.T time and lunch timetable.But it is also a good idea because it will mean more people will have jobs and there will be more children in the school.
Hi i’m Sureya, I think that school expansion is not a good idea because the school will be crowded and the children will not be able to have a proper play like they have now. Also if there was a fire alarm the classes will not be able to get out quickly enough.
But school expansion could also be a good idea aswell because more people will have jobs at our lovely school and more children will come to our school aswell.
What a wonderful post Sureya, I completely agree with your points – there are two sides to every situation. We may not like the idea for expansion, but always stay optimistic 🙂

I agree with you, it will be very difficult to timetable things like ICT, PE, Music. It will also be impossible to have whole school assemblies. Dinner times will be more rushed and noisy. It will be harder to get to know all the new members of staff.
Hi i’m Aisha ,I think school expansion is a bad idea because adults will not be able to take groups and there won’t be space in the dinner halls, play ground and when there is assembley.The upsides are that lots more different children and teachers can join are wonderful school.Lots of people disagree with the idea of expansion but it is up to pupils and staff.

When they asked the staff, pupils and parents the vast majority were against expansion for lots of different reasons. However, they seem to have ignored this!!
i don’t want the school to be expanded because there will not be enough space in the dinner hall or in the playground. Or any where els. and part of the playground might turn into a classroom. Most people don’t want the school to be expaned.
Hmmm… i think they shoudl’t make more children come to this school because all the places like the libary will be used as a class and nobody can take books from the libary that they like
